Why Is Food Safety Training Important?

Every food handler should understand basic food safety, how to handle food properly and the importance of providing safe food.

Exposure to dirt and germs can make food or water unsafe for consumption in many ways. Tainted consumables can cause infections or diseases such as diarrhoea and meningitis. These illnesses can make people very sick and, at times, can even be life-threatening. Some infections may also make it difficult for the body to absorb the nutrients it needs to be healthy. Additionally, unsafe or stale foods deteriorate, causing them to lose vital nutrients.
